The Green Hills School Boys Basketball season runs from December through February for both the Varsity and Junior Varsity teams, grades 6-8. Note that Varsity games start at 3:45PM and JV immediately follows.
Practices - 2018-19 Season
Practices run from afterschool until 4:00 unless otherwise noted.
12/14- Newton: The Green Hills boys basketball team was defeated by Newton on Friday by a score of 39-29. The Green Hills team outplayed Newton the first half but couldn’t get the ball in the basket and went down 10-8. The second half the Mustangs couldn’t keep up with the Braves. Evan Chomow lead the team with 8 points while Jake Benitz added 7 and Merrick Buckley 6.
The junior varsity team was defeated as well. Joey Gigante and Yasin Tabatabaee were the lone scorers for the team.
1/4- The Green Hills boys basketball team defeated North Warren yesterday by a score of 49-46 for their first win of the season! Despite being down by 5 at half time the boys fought back the second half and made it a back and forth nail biter in the 4th quarter. Using a high pressure defense in the 4th the boys were able to pull off the victory. Merrick Buckley led the team with a season high 36 points, while Evan Chomow added 7 and Jake Benitz 6.
Despite playing well the junior varsity team was defeated by North Warren. Evan Parker led all scorers with 6 points.
1/8- The Green Hills boys basketball team was defeated by Kittatinny yesterday by a score of 35 to 26. Evan Chomow lead the team with 11 points while Merrick Buckley added 6.
The junior varsity team was defeated as well. Evan Parker score 6 points while Dylan Cotter added 2.
1/10- The Green Hills boys basketball team fell to Ogdensberg 36 to 35. Dominic Ferdenzi lead the team with 9 points. Jake Benitz and Merrick Buckley added 8 each, Evan Chomow added 7.
The junior varsity team won their first game of the season last night 27 and 16. The team had 7 players score baskets for the win. Dylan Cotter dominated with 15 points, while Nehemiah Tynes added 4. Shaun Blaszak, Anthony Garen, Ty Guzzo, Lucas Mesaros, and Yasin Tabatabaee all scored as well.
1/15- The Green Hills boys varsity basketball team defeated Byram yesterday by a score of 33 to 21. The boys came out firing and didn’t look back, taking a lead into half time. The second half was more of the same to secure the victory. Jake Benitz led the team with 11 points. Merrick Buckley added 6 and Evan Robinson another 5.
The junior varsity team came up short, losing 21-14. Evan Parker led the team with 4 points. Drew Harding, CJ Wojtach, Dylan Cotter, and Nehemiah Tynes all scored as well.
