Interdistrict School Choice

  • Green Hills School in Greendell, NJ has been an Interdistrict Public School Choice location since the inception of the program in 2013. Under the School Choice program, interested New Jersey school districts apply to become choice districts, opening seats into which they will accept non-resident students at the expense of the state. This enables Green Hills, a Sussex County school, to receive money that normally goes to other areas of the state.

Green Hills was selected based on the following criteria:

    1. the fiscal impact on the district
    2. the quality and variety of academic programs offered within the district
    3. the potential effectiveness of the student application process and of the admissions criteria utilized
    4. the impact on student population diversity in the district
    5. the degree to which the program will promote or reduce educational quality in the choice district and the sending districts.

Green Hills is a beautiful kdg.-8th grade school that is “Second to None.” Green has small class sizes and a commitment to treating all learners as unique, intelligent individuals. Small group instruction and conferencing with individuals is ubiquitous.  We believe that heavily investing in our human capital creates professionals that are the fully prepared to meet and exceed all expectations. We believe that families from outside of Green should be able to experience what make Green Hills so special.

As of 8/24/16, Green Hills School was allotted "three" sibling seats for the 2017-2018 school year. We are allowed to accept siblings (and exceed the allotment) of students already enrolled in GHS as choice students. We are accepting applications and have created a wait list. If one of the 46 previously enrolled school choice students or any of the siblings applicants “un-enrolls” we can replace that child and a student will be selected from the lottery placement. Sorry for the bad news. Please contact your state level legislative body to voice your opinion regarding the limits put on the amount of students a district can accept..
